Intro

Hello and welcome back to the TSJ CruisePod - your journey beyond the waves.

I’m Thomas Sebastian Jensen, and in this final episode of Season Two, we’re leaving the ports behind and staying right where the journey truly connects everything: on board the ship.

Throughout the Metropolis Tour 2026, we explored cities across Europe.

But between Hamburg, Rotterdam, Belgium, France, and England, there was one constant companion - our home at sea: the MSC Poesia.

This episode is all about life on board. The rhythm of sea days, evenings in the theater, small daily rituals, and how a cruise ship feels when winter weather keeps most of the action inside.

Life on Board During a Winter Cruise

Traveling in early January naturally sets a different tone than a summer cruise.

The weather can be unpredictable, sometimes grey, sometimes rainy, and often windy - especially in Northern Europe. That means life on board shifts inward.

Lounges, theaters, cafés, and indoor spaces become the heart of the ship.

What really stood out on this journey was that, despite spending much more time indoors, the ship never felt overcrowded.

There was always a quiet corner to relax, a seat with a view, or a calm lounge to enjoy a coffee and simply watch the sea pass by.

The MSC Poesia handled this perfectly, offering enough space and variety to balance activity and calm.

Evenings at the Theater

One of the highlights of life on board was the evening entertainment at the Teatro Carlo Felice.

Each night, the theater hosted two shows, typically at 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., making it easy to fit performances around dinner plans.

The variety of shows was impressive:

  • One evening, the ship turned into a dance floor with Club Disco, celebrating classic disco hits like Boogie Wonderland and You Should Be Dancing - full of energy, color, and pure fun.
  • Another night focused on powerful voices with Total Divas, a tribute to some of the greatest female artists of all time, blending classic songs with modern arrangements.
  • There was also a very different kind of experience with Adam Milner - Woven in Wonder, a show that mixed magic, humor, audience interaction, and emotion. It felt intimate, surprising, and genuinely memorable.
  • Shows like Live from MSC Poesia brought together singers, dancers, guest performers, and specialty acts in a vibrant variety format, while Nature offered a more visual, almost dreamlike performance, combining colors, effects, and storytelling.
  • And with Picture Perfect, the theater transformed into a cinematic journey, bringing iconic movie moments from films like James Bond and Dirty Dancing to the stage.
  • One of the most emotional performances was Road to Nowhere, a story-driven show combining humor, aerial acrobatics, and a strong ensemble - reminding you that endings often carry the seed of new beginnings.

Together, these shows created a strong evening routine: dinner, theater, maybe a quiet drink afterward - a rhythm that gives structure to life at sea.

Dance Classes and Daytime Activities

Sea and port days also offered plenty of opportunities to stay active.

With two professional dance instructors on board, guests could join a wide range of dance classes, especially on sea days.

Up to six daily different sessions were offered, covering styles such as Country, Kizomba, Jive, Merengue, Bachata, and Cha Cha Cha.

You didn’t need a partner or prior experience - the atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and focused on having fun rather than perfection.

These classes became a great way to break up the day, meet other guests, and try something new between breakfast, lunch, and afternoon coffee.

Quiz, Laughter, and Small Rituals

Another recurring highlight was Quiz o’Clock.

These quiz sessions came in different formats. Sometimes you could choose from multiple answers, other times you really had to rely on your own knowledge. Topics varied, the mood was always lighthearted, and laughter was guaranteed. It wasn’t about winning prizes - it was about shared moments, friendly competition, and those small social interactions that make life on board feel warm and familiar.

Over time, you naturally develop little rituals: a favorite seat in a lounge, a specific time for a walk around the decks, or a quiet moment with a book while the ship gently moves through the water.

A Comfortable Rhythm at Sea

What truly defines life on board the MSC Poesia is balance.

Even during a winter cruise, with limited outdoor time, the ship never felt hectic.

You could be as active or as quiet as you wanted.

Some days were full of shows, classes, and quizzes.

Other days were slow, reflective, and calm.

That flexibility is one of the greatest strengths of cruising - and it was especially noticeable on this Metropolis Tour.
