Intro

Hello and welcome aboard the TSJ CruisePod - your journey beyond the waves.

I’m Thomas Sebastian Jensen, and this is the official podcast of the TSJ CruiseBlog.

Whether you’re listening from home, on the road, or maybe even from a balcony cabin somewhere at sea - I’m really glad you’re here.

In this episode, we’re continuing our journey on the World Cruise 2025 aboard the MSC Magnifica.

This time, we’re traveling across continents - from Casablanca to Mindelo and all the way to Salvador in Brazil.

CASABLANCA - BETWEEN MODERNITY AND TRADITION

Our next stop was Casablanca.

A city that doesn’t immediately feel like a classic tourist destination… but that’s exactly what makes it interesting.

After a slightly restless night at sea - and even a small medical emergency on board that delayed our arrival - we finally started our day.

This time, we decided to stay in Casablanca and join one of the included excursions.

Everything was surprisingly smooth.

A quick passport check… a friendly nod… and just like that, we were in Morocco.

Our first stop was the Hassan II Mosque.

And this place is truly something else.

Built right above the Atlantic Ocean… it feels almost unreal.

The waves crashing against the rocks… the intricate details… and the massive minaret rising into the sky.

It’s one of those places where photos don’t really do it justice.

Being able to go inside made it even more special.

The size, the craftsmanship, the atmosphere… everything felt calm, powerful, and incredibly impressive.

From there, we continued to a very different place:

The Church of Notre Dame de Lourdes.

Simple from the outside… but inside, filled with beautiful stained-glass windows that create a completely unique atmosphere.

We also stopped at the Royal Palace.

While you can’t enter the building itself, the gates and surroundings already give you a sense of its importance.

To finish the tour, we walked along one of the city’s shopping streets.

And that’s where Casablanca really reveals itself.

A mix of modern life… international brands… and traditional elements.

At first glance, the city might seem a bit gray… but once you explore it… you start to see its character.

After Casablanca, things began to change.

The distances between ports became longer… the ocean wider…

And you could really feel that we were now on a world cruise.

Our next stop took us to a place with a completely different rhythm.

MINDELO - COLOR, MUSIC AND AUTHENTIC LIFE

Mindelo, in Cape Verde.

A place that feels warm… relaxed… and incredibly authentic.

From the moment we arrived, the difference was clear.

Colorful houses… palm trees… bright streets…

And a pace of life that feels much slower.

Our day started with a short drive into the city center.

And even that drive gave us a strong first impression.

Mindelo doesn’t try to impress with big landmarks.

Instead… it tells its story through everyday life.

One of the highlights was visiting the local markets.

The fruit and vegetable market was full of colors - mangoes, papayas, bananas…

Everything fresh, everything vibrant.

Then came the fish market.

Loud, busy, and very real.

Fresh fish straight from the Atlantic… and a glimpse into daily life on the island.

But what I found most fascinating…

Was the arts and crafts market.

Handmade masks, jewelry, fabrics, paintings…

And behind many of these items… people who were happy to share their stories.

It made the experience feel personal.

We also passed the Governor’s Palace, a beautiful reminder of the island’s colonial past.

And at one point, we stepped into a local church…

A quiet moment… in contrast to the lively streets outside.

To finish the day, we enjoyed a traditional Cape Verdean lunch.

Simple food… but full of flavor.

And by the time we returned to the ship…

It was clear:

Mindelo is not about big attractions.

It’s about atmosphere.

About people. Music. And everyday life.

From Cape Verde…

We continued across the Atlantic.

And with that… we reached a completely new chapter of this journey.

South America.

SALVADOR - ENERGY, FAITH AND EMOTION

Our arrival in Salvador felt different right away.

The energy of the city…

You could feel it immediately.

Even during the bus ride, we saw the contrasts.

Historic buildings… modern districts… and the ocean always nearby.

Our first major stop was the Bonfim Church.

And this was one of those moments you don’t forget.

Outside the church, thousands of colorful ribbons are tied to the fence.

Each one represents a wish.

A prayer.

And when the wind moves them…

It creates a powerful image.

Inside, the atmosphere was intense.

The church was full… the service was being broadcast outside…

And then the singing began.

Rhythmic. Joyful. Emotional.

It’s hard to describe… but it really stays with you.

After that, we continued through the city.

We passed Campo Grande… a place deeply connected to local life and Carnival.

And then we reached the Upper Town.

From there, the views over the bay were incredible.

One of the highlights was the Barra Lighthouse.

Standing right at the edge of the ocean… it’s one of those picture-perfect locations.

To end the day, we visited Mercado Modelo.

A lively market right by the water.

Souvenirs, local crafts, music… and one last chance to soak in the atmosphere of Salvador.

A SPECIAL MOMENT AT SEA

And just before arriving in Salvador…

We experienced something truly special on board.

Crossing the Equator.

It’s a tradition on many long voyages…

But on the MSC Magnifica, it turned into a full celebration.

Neptune himself appeared on deck… handing over the key to the ocean to the captain.

The crew dressed up… music was playing…

And the entire pool deck became one big celebration.

For many guests… this is one of the most memorable moments of the journey.

And honestly…

It really makes you realize how far you’ve come.

Outro

From the contrasts of Casablanca… to the authenticity of Mindelo… and the energy of Salvador…

This episode truly shows what a world cruise is all about.

Different cultures. Different rhythms. And completely new perspectives.

And we’re only just getting started.

In the next episode, the journey continues… with more destinations and new experiences waiting ahead.

Until then: thanks for listening, fair winds, and I’ll see you beyond the waves.
