Intro
Hello and welcome aboard the TSJ CruisePod - your journey beyond the waves.
I’m Thomas Sebastian Jensen, and this is the official podcast of the TSJ CruiseBlog.
Whether you’re listening from home, on the road, or maybe even from a balcony cabin somewhere at sea - I’m really glad you’re here.
In this episode, we’re continuing our journey on the World Cruise 2025 aboard the MSC Magnifica.
Today, we’re heading to some of the most remote and beautiful places on Earth: Adamstown on the Pitcairn Islands, Papeete in Tahiti, and Moorea.
ADAMSTOWN - A WORLD FAR AWAY
There are places on this planetā¦
that feel almost unreal.
Adamstown is one of them.
Located on the Pitcairn Islands, in the middle of the South Pacificā¦
This is one of the most remote inhabited places in the world.
After several days at sea, we finally reached this tiny island.
Just a small green silhouette⦠surrounded by endless blue.
And already then, you realize:
This is something special.
We dropped anchor early in the morning.
But going ashore?
Not possible.
Instead⦠something much more unique happened.
Small boats approached our ship.
On board:
The islanders themselves.
They came aboard the MSC Magnifica⦠bringing a piece of their world with them.
On deck, they set up small stands.
Selling handmade souvenirs:
Wood carvings⦠jewelry⦠local honey⦠postcards⦠stampsā¦
But what made this moment truly specialā¦
Were the conversations.
Talking to people who live in such isolation⦠hearing about their daily life⦠their challenges⦠their traditionsā¦
It felt personal.
Almost intimate.
For a couple of hours, the ship transformed into something different.
Not just a cruise shipā¦
But a meeting point of two completely different worlds.
At the end, almost everything was sold.
And the islanders left againā¦
Heading not even straight homeā¦
But to the next ship nearby.
A day that was probably just as special for them as it was for us.
Before we continued our journey, the ship slowly circled the island.
Cliffs rising from the sea⦠green hills⦠a sense of complete isolation.
No crowds. No cities.
Just nature.
And silence.
It’s one of those rare moments where you realizeā¦
how big this world really is.
From one of the most remote places on Earthā¦
We continued to one of the most famous island destinations in the world.
Tahiti.
PAPEETE - THE HEART OF TAHITI
Arriving in Papeeteā¦
Feels like stepping into a postcard.
Palm trees⦠colorful streets⦠mountains rising in the backgroundā¦
And immediatelyā¦
The heat.
Tropical. Intense.
But also⦠part of the experience.
We started our day exploring the city center.
Small shops⦠local markets⦠a quick stop at a pharmacyā¦
And of course⦠souvenirs.
Magnets. Postcards.
The classics.
In the afternoon, we joined a guided walking tour.
Our first stop:
The municipal market.
Fresh fish⦠tropical fruits⦠handmade goodsā¦
Even though many stalls were already closing, you could still feel the atmosphere.
From there, we walked through the city.
Past the City Hall⦠the cathedral⦠and Bougainville Park.
Learning more about the history⦠and the mix of Polynesian and French culture.
The day ended quietlyā¦
A slow walk back⦠a warm eveningā¦
A relaxed introduction to Tahiti.
The next day took us beyond the city.
Along the east coast of the island.
Our first stop:
Venus Point.
A place where Captain Cook once made his observations.
Calm. Peaceful.
A beautiful start to the day.
We also visited a black sand beach.
Waves rolling in⦠heat in the airā¦
And honestly⦠we would have loved to jump into the water.
But time was limited.
At the Tahaara viewpointā¦
We got a first glimpse of something special.
In the distance:
Moorea.
Rising from the ocean.
Sharp peaks⦠deep green mountainsā¦
Almost unreal.
That moment aloneā¦
Was worth the trip.
And thenā¦
The next dayā¦
We were there.
Moorea.
MOOREA - THE SOUTH PACIFIC DREAM
Moorea is exactly what you imagine when you think of the South Pacific.
And maybe even a little more.
We arrived by tender boatā¦
And from the very first stepā¦
You feel it.
Warm air⦠blue water⦠a slower rhythm.
Our first stop was Opunohu Bay.
And it’s hard to describe just how beautiful it is.
Green hills⦠calm water⦠perfect silence.
It almost feels unreal.
From there, we continued to the Belvedere viewpoint.
And this is one of those places whereā¦
you just stop.
Because the viewā¦
is overwhelming.
Two bays. Mountains in between.
Everything perfectly aligned.
We also visited a traditional marae.
A sacred Polynesian site.
Surrounded by natureā¦
With a deep sense of history.
You could really feel the importance of this place.
Not just as a historical siteā¦
But as something still meaningful today.
Later, we reached Cook’s Bay.
Another place that feels like a painting.
And finallyā¦
A short stop at the beach.
Just enough time to step into the water.
Warm. Clear. Calm.
One of those simple momentsā¦
that stay with you.
Outro
From the remote world of the Pitcairn Islands⦠to the tropical energy of Tahiti⦠and the breathtaking beauty of Mooreaā¦
This episode feels like a journey through completely different worlds.
And yetā¦
They’re all part of the same incredible adventure.
In the next episode, the journey continues as we explore even more destinations across the Pacific.
Until then: thanks for listening, fair winds, and I’ll see you beyond the waves.
